about

Review - Begins with a soft guitar introduction, slow crescendo to begin the album. Vocals and drums kick in together to begin the song in full. Slow beat supporting the lyrics as the narrator is telling a story about his relationship with a woman. Prophecy and forewarning in lyrics. Slow and soft breakdown as the song dives in to a deeper subject matter, as the lyrical content rebounds and shows how the narrator is capable of moving pass this point in his life. The breakdown doubles in speed and increases energy, and carries a perdinent message. The song slows back down again, allowing the energy of the lyrics to take the stage,'These people were born free', alluding that something has changed, and has placed a majority of individuals in to slavery. There is a special moment hidden here, in which the lyrical content coincides with the effect and deliver of the audio, 'We twisted in two', as the audio signal splits the vocal line in to two parts, one playing in the left ear, the other playing in the right ear, rejoining back in the middle of the audio track with the line, 'Divided till We become whole inside of You'

Lyrical Content - Starts off with an intimate detail of a past relationship, the narrator goes in to detail about how he is hurt. The lyrics continue on, showing that the narrator is continuing his life with the one who hurt him. The narrator reveals the location and destination of his life, to California, to sojourn for awhile while building up his soul. The story leaves the narrator behind and travels back to Biblical times, inferring that the listeners should return to Egypt. The lyrics here go through various intense images. 'Hourglass inverts time to enable us to play our hand, we must stop folding', implying that the listener now has the time to make their move, and alludes to Texas Hold Em', a hand card game. 'Stop drifting in Denial Alone', calls back to the starting phrase of 'Pharoahs land', a double entente of the listener being in denial, and also revealing a location inside of Egypt, the Nile River.

Additional Information - Title is a mathematical phrasing, of the greater and less than sign (< >), but instead facing up. Implying that Heaven is the greatest pathway.

lyrics

I remember seeing His name on your arm,
I thought You had seen enough pain to understand others,
But what A shame to find out how little You had learned in life,
How little You love yourself

We dive hand in hand,
Down this well together,
But I smile for You,

I misspoke when I said I didn't love you,
I Love You so,
Wakening anxiety nightmares fuel the need to sleep,
Nothing Tears Me from bed to floor faster
than knives in calves with my best friend,
Gone from me,

I Am stranded on this planet with You,
No matter how distant I attempt to go,
To the last words of my Children,
She will always haunt me,

California called home to Me so
I could find a piece of the Man I needed to be for You,
When I was taken from Here,
An Infant I didn't know I would owe so much debt to Your vanity,

Burdening and Triumphant that We will never meet
Outside of Your window as You waste light A lot of the day,
But I won't die that way,
None of us should,
Yet we do

Return To plague the Pharaohs land,
Hourglass Inverts time to enable us to play Our hand,
We must stop folding,
Stop drifting in denial alone,
These people were born free,

Your should've known this was coming
Since the very beginning of the end
We twisted in two,
Divided till We become whole inside of
You
